FY07 Budget Request Update

The Coordinating Board for Higher Education (CBHE) has recommended to the Governor’s office that MOREnet receive level funding with an inflationary increase for FY07. Many members have also spoken out in support of MOREnet’s request. For example, one member in the K-12 program explained to her local legislators that she calculated the cost of obtaining their MOREnet services on the open market: an impossible $400,000. Another member from the higher education program conveyed the essential nature of his connection with rural schools.

Legislators and the Governor’s office have been supportive and open in numerous meetings with MOREnet, and they have heard about the essential benefits MOREnet provides to its members. Member organizations that have been able to secure meetings report positive feedback as well. MOREnet will remain diligent in continuing the communications process, and will continue to be very active during the legislative session.
