MOREnet Equipment, Security Coverage, E-mail During Summer Vacation
Please do NOT turn off power to MOREnet equipment and connections
during summer vacation. If your organization plans to turn off its own network
equipment during summer vacation, please be sure that power to MOREnet equipment
is not interrupted. Turning off power to MOREnet equipment may result in equipment
problems and circuit failure and could affect the reliability of your MOREnet
services. MOREnet will continue to monitor equipment and circuits throughout
the summer and will react appropriately to any problems.
If you plan to reduce staff for the summer, please remember
your organization is still responsible for making efforts to ensure your Internet
presence is maintained securely and for responding in a timely manner to acceptable
use and security concerns from outside.
If you plan to turn off your mail server during the summer, consider having your users unsubscribe from their discussion lists. When the server is off, all messages sent to the lists are returned to the sender as undeliverable. Asking users to unsubscribe during the summer will help reduce the number of bounced messages.
