FIRST Robotics Competition Highlights
On March 15-17, MOREnet participated in the Greater Kansas City Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at Hale Arena in Kansas City. Through a partnership with FIRST and funding from the Kauffman Foundation, MOREnet was able to provide live interactive videoconferencing from the competition floor and streaming video of the competition. Students on 44 teams from seven states had the opportunity to connect with people in their home communities and keep up to date on all the competition’s matches through the video stream.
Some of the highlights include
- Friends and family of the team from Newton, KS were able to see and talk to their team as they competed, all the way to the finals when they eventually won the competition!
- KOLR 10 News in Springfield, MO was able to interview the students from Mountain Home, AR live from the competition. The story aired on the news in time for locals to tune in live to the video stream to watch the team compete. See KOLR 10's story.
- News of the video stream traveled fast: the Chicago Regional FIRST Robotics Competition simulcast the Kansas City stream on their big screen so the Chicago teams could see what was going on at our event.
- All of the competition streams are archived and available for download.
