Several public libraries are considering implementing wireless but perhaps feel confused at times as to what the current wireless terminology and standards really mean.  This session will focus on some of the more common terminologies associated with wireless technology.  A better understanding of wireless terminologies should equate to a heightened knowledge of what each respective piece of wireless equipment can do and assist you in your decision making prior to purchasing equipment.

C045: Optimizing Images for Online Use (2HOURS)

If you have a website, blog or wiki, you will at some point want to put images on it. But working with images can be tricky. This two-hour, hands-on session will cover the things you need to know to optimize images for the Web. We will cover proper formats, sizing, resolution and saving your images. We will also cover some quick techniques for enhancing your images and fixing common problems such as crooked images (from the scanner) or images that are too light or too dark.

C046: Virtualization and You: Helping Troubleshoot and Test

We will explore using VMware and Microsoft Virtual Server and innotek VirtualBox to help troubleshoot and test computer issues and Active Directory/NDS issues. You will learn about saving on hardware, time and space costs.

The role of IT administration is challenging, and one of those challenges is the selection of instructional technology solutions that balances the needs of the faculty and, at the same time, is a solution that best fits with other adopted instructional support technology models currently used on a university campus.  This presentation will review the experiences of supporting Live Classroom for the last two years by an IT administrator, along with his other role has a faculty member in Media Studies.
