Jan. 18, 2006, 9:30-10:30 a.m. CALEA: What Could It Mean for Your Network?
In August, the FCC ruled that all facilities-based Internet service providers are subject to the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). This web seminar will review the decision and the impact it might have on your campus, school or library. Under the ruling, any entity that owns and runs the equipment connecting end users to the Internet is covered, including most colleges and universities, libraries, and municipal, state and regional nonprofit networks. Please join Wendy Wigen, Policy Analyst with EDUCAUSE in Washington, D.C., for the latest updates on CALEA.
Beth Young, Network Security Analyst with MOREnet, will facilitate this session.

Maximizing Your Investment in Videoconferencing
Student achievement . . . Well-prepared teachers . . . Involved parents . . .
The No Child Left Behind Act requires the above characteristics of every public school. Interactive videoconferencing technology (IVC) can make these characteristics successful components of your organization. Maximizing Your Investment in Videoconferencing helps educators discover how IVC can be used to meet goals and objectives inside and outside the classroom. Presenters are educators who have vast experience working with school district personnel in the successful implementation and integration of IVC into districts and classrooms.
Come and explore how videoconferencing can:
- Facilitate continued learning and networking for your administrators.
- Provide cost-effective, job-imbedded professional development for teachers and staff.
- Engage students in real-world programming aligned to your curricular standards.
- Increase student engagement through authentic problem-based learning experiences.
- Facilitate collaborations and enhanced community relationships.
- Promote sharing of specialized teacher resources with other schools and districts.
- Extend the classroom to alternative education and homebound students.
