Using the Firestarter Firewall in Linux

We will be picking up where we left off last spring and talking about the firewall in a desktop version of Linux. We have chosen Ubuntu for the purposeof this demonstration and will be using the Firestarter GUI to manage the IPTables ruleset. Come join us as we give you an overview and show you how you might use this as a tool for your organization.

Linux on the Desktop

MBSA

Does your Windows OS have the basic security settings in place? Do you have all the patches and updates on a system? If you don't know and would like to find out, Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) is a good place to start. MBSA will compare your current machine's settings to Microsoft's security configuration settings. We will go over how to run and interpret the results of the MBSA report.

Security Policies - Don't Get Caught Without One

Simply put, a security policy is an outline or guide to secure an organization's resources. It addresses security requirements at a high level without being overly specific. Specific security requirements are referenced in supplemental policies (e.g., password policy, remote access policy, etc.). This web seminar will focus on why security policies are important to an organization and the steps you should go through to develop one. It will also highlight some essential security policy components.
