Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Commemoration Education and Outreach Event

Activities include:

  • Guest appearance and presentation by famous NASA Flight Director Gene Kranz.
  • Launch demonstration of historic scale model replicas of historic NASA and Russian manned space vehicles.
  • Apollo 11 launch reenactment from a scale working replica of the Saturn V Launch Complex.

10 a.m. Program Start - Presentation of the Colors by Parks College Honor Guard (archery field - adjacent to planetarium parking lot)*

Welcome, Recollection of the Apollo 11 Mission*

10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Student groups split into the following three activities
Group 1: Student Lunch Break - St. Louis Science Center
Group 2: CLC Straw Rocket Activity - Planetarium Lobby Areas
Group 3: Essay winners lunch - TBD
12:15 p.m. Gene Kranz Main Presentation (Planetarium)
