Important Gale News: Online Training and Early Conversion Available

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Getting your organization access to the new Gale databases before July 1 could be a big help in updating documents and providing people with a chance to use the new databases. Gale has offered to convert organizations over to the new databases before July 1. Your students, staff, faculty or patrons will see the new databases in the Change Databases selection menu if they are using any existing Gale databases like the Discovering Collection. This opportunity will also give you a chance to update web pages with the new Gale information before July 1. If you would like to have the new Gale databases turned on in your organization’s profile before July 1, please contact MOREnet Technical Support at help@more.net. MOREnet will work with you and Gale to get your early access configured.

To help with this transition, Ed Gron, Senior Training Consultant from Gale, will be offering web seminars in June and July for MOREnet members. The web seminars will provide an overview of the Gale database products that are part of your MOREnet membership. Ed will discuss how to access the databases, successful searching techniques and some of the differences between the former products and the new ones. A schedule of web seminars and dates is available at http://www.more.net/content/web-seminars. Additionally, MOREnet training sessions on the Gale products will be starting in July. Please continue to check the training schedule found at http://solutions.more.net/apps/training/schedule.

Links to promotional materials and other help documents are available at http://www.more.net/content/gale-databases. Gale provides an online form you can use to request bookmarks and other materials that they will mail to you in the quantity you request! If you have questions or to have the new Gale databases turned on before July 1, contact MOREnet Technical Support at help@more.net.
