House Appropriations, Education Committee

• Met with Education Budget Analyst, Mike Price on Monday, February 9, 2009.
• The committee is meeting every Tuesday and Wednesday until they finish and submit their recommendations to Representative Icet, Chair of the House Budget Committee.

Missouri Library Advocacy Day – Tuesday, February 10, 2009:

• Gave an Education and Library Program update. Chip Byers, Jeanne Sullivan and I attended the evening reception and had the opportunity to meet with several legislators along with their public library directors.

Legislator Meetings

• Chip Byers and I met with the following Representatives:
  • Rep. Gayle Kingery
  • Rep. Sara Lampe
  • Rep. Kevin Wilson
  • Rep. Steve Hobbs
  • Rep. Mike Thomson
  • Rep. Chris Molendorp
• They all expressed support for MOREnet and discussed the very difficult budget challenges that the state is facing.

The Next Two Weeks

• The House Appropriations, Education Committee will start on HB3 next week and most likely get to MOREnet the following week.
• The Senate will also work on HB3 over the next two weeks.
• Meetings are scheduled with Representatives and Senators on each committee.
