Netsweeper Wins Bid to Provide MOREnet's Internet Content Filtering Service

Thursday, January 22, 2009

MOREnet is pleased to announce that Netsweeper Inc. (http://netsweeper.com) will be the new provider for MOREnet’s Internet Content Filtering service, effective July 1, 2009.

Founded in 1999, Netsweeper Inc. is a global provider of Internet content filtering applications with offices and distribution channels in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South America and South Africa. Netsweeper filtering utilizes advanced systems that actively scan the Internet and categorize pages on the fly as requested by Internet users. Multiple deployment scenarios are possible for member-hosted organizations, from network-based filtering to downloadable client versions on laptops. Organizations will also have the option of having MOREnet host their filtering service, instead of hosting it locally.

Netsweeper’s features are similar to SmartFilter, with some enhancements. Like SmartFilter, Netsweeper has a customizable redirect page, reporting, group-based filtering and keyword blocks. In addition, Netsweeper allows filtering of https traffic and quicker blocking of proxy and uncategorized sites and a desktop client for use with mobile workstations.

MOREnet will provide training and support for the Netsweeper solution, and conference sessions are already on the schedule for the Connections 2009 conference March 19-20 at Tan-Tar-A. Sessions are planned for both member-hosted and MOREnet-hosted solutions. Netsweeper will also be present at the conference to answer any questions.

While the Netsweeper filtering and new pricing is effective July 1, 2009, MOREnet support staff will work closely with existing subscribers to migrate them before that time so there is no interruption of filtering.
