Upgrading Internet Infrastructure

MOREnet is bringing the next generation of broadband capacity directly to the doorstep of our members in southeast Missouri.

With the steady rise of streaming content and interactive web services, increased Internet bandwidth is in high demand. Unfortunately, the southeast section of the state has limited access to cost-effective high speed Ethernet services. MOREnet is working to find access to next generation (a gigabit and beyond) Internet for the area. After an RFP process, MOREnet entered into a long-term (20 year) IRU lease with Sho-Me Technologies, a service provider based in Marshfield, Mo. to obtain use of unlit fiber strands and adjacent property in order to provide lit fiber service to up to 188 sites in southeast Missouri. MOREnet will own all equipment used to light the fiber. This equipment will be located in Points of Presence (PoPs) along the fiber routes and on the premises of the sites that are being provided fiber connectivity. The new backbone fiber will interconnect with the existing MOREnet backbone in two locations.
