MOREnet Selected to Work with U.S. UCAN

MOREnet has been selected to work with the U.S. Unified Community Anchor Network (U.S. UCAN) to help define and provide support, guidance, direction and services that can be offered to community anchor institutions to help advance broadband applications across the United States.

"This speaks to the continued support and dedication MOREnet has to its member communities and Internet2. We will be part of defining the next generation of broadband and that is important," states John Gillispie, Executive Director of MOREnet.

FY13 MOREnet State Appropriation Request

As many of you know, MOREnet’s state funding through House Bill 3 has been completely withheld for the last two fiscal years. Previously, this funding helped to level the playing field for connectivity and Internet access for Missouri’s public K-12 schools and higher education institutions. Now, without the state funding, hundreds of MOREnet member sites are bearing the full cost for connectivity and Internet access, with many schools paying significantly more than others for similar service levels.

Call for Presentations Now Extended!

MOREnet is delighted to announce Google is coming to Connections and HELIX 2012: Learning Without Limits at the Downtown Marriott in Kansas City, Mo., March 21- 23!

Jaime Casap, Senior Education Evangelist for Google, Inc. will be our opening keynote on Thursday, March 22. In addition, Google will be offering at least two additional conference sessions in a Google Lab equipped with Google Chromebooks. Other presenters will also be given the opportunity to host sessions in the Google Lab.

MOREnet Response to Krebs' RSA Hack Article

MOREnet recently learned that it was named in the list of organizations that had, according to security blogger Brian Krebs, potentially been breached by the same method that breached RSA in spring 2011. We have no comment on the accuracy of this claim because no information was shared to substantiate it. Krebs' information apparently comes from a congressional staffer, but without information like time and date stamps, IP addresses, etc., we cannot verify the claim of infection.
