Benefits
The following services are available to the REAL and K-12 TNP participants as a member of MOREnet at no extra cost.
MOREnet hosts discussion lists for participants to support specific areas and to support MOREnet Contacts. Members who participate in a professionally oriented group and want to create a discussion list should submit a discussion list request form to MOREnet.
MOREnet offers training and assistance in the E-rate application process to the schools and libraries in Missouri. Missouri public schools and public libraries do not have to be MOREnet members to obtain this assistance.
Internet Access
MOREnet provides high-speed, reliable Internet access to members up to 45 MB or higher and technologies including frame relay, IMA, ATM and Ethernet. Internet access is provided through a state-wide Shared Network managed by MOREnet which is comprised of leased lines from telecommunications companies. Because of the intrastate network design, traffic between connected MOREnet members travels the Shared Network instead of the commercial Internet thus allowing for faster access and quality of service (QoS), essential for H.323 video distance learning and MOBIUS applications.
MyMOREnet is a Web-based service to allow members to access organization-specific information including network utilization statistics, to create and review helpdesk tickets and to submit domain name service requests.
MOREnet offers access to a virtual library including encyclopedias, major newspapers, magazines, journals and data covering a wide variety of subjects including general, academic, business, health, alternative health, and more to its members.
MOREnet staff researches and reports on new technologies and innovations to ensure that MOREnet stays on top of the latest developments. A variety of reports are available online.
MOREnet provides network security services and event response to and on behalf of its members. The MOREnet Security Team is a Computer Security Incident Response Team dedicated to handling network security event response and also provides security consulting, training and alerts to its members.
Information about conferences and special web seminars delivered by subject-matter experts that are MOREnet colleagues or MOREnet staff. Additional fees may apply depending on the type of event.
In addition to providing technical support for services provided through MOREnet, consulting and troubleshooting services are also provided on issues related to member networks, including network design, planning and diagramming, bandwidth management, firewalls and WAN equipment specifications. Step-by-step instructions, troubleshooting guides and technical documentation are available on the MOREnet website.
Training on a wide variety of technical and professional development topics are available to MOREnet members. MOREnet will conduct training in Columbia, online, regionally or upon request at your organization. Additional fees may apply depending on the training topic or location.
MOREnet provides members with video scheduling, room design, troubleshooting, product support and evaluations of video hardware and software. MOREnet's Video Services operate on five Polycom MGC-100 video bridges using Polycom's Path Navigator gatekeeper. The MOREnet bridge can connect codecs operating on H.323 over IP, as well as ISDN.
Fee-Based Services
The following are MOREnet’s fee-based services. The services listed below are available for an additional fee.
MOREnet's E-mail Virus and Spam Filtering service is a low-cost layer of protection for your e-mail system.
kinetic allows you to maintain local administration and control of content and access, without having to manage and maintain costly Web and e-mail servers. kinetic features include spam and virus protection and Web-based e-mail access from any Internet-accessible computer.
MOREnet offers reliable and inexpensive Internet content filtering that allows you to restrict computer users from accessing Internet sites as selected by your organization. You control your organizations configuration and decide which filtering categories and URLs to filter. The software also allows you to disable filtering for specific IPs and create filter groups. You can choose the MOREnet-hosted or Customer-hosted option. MOREnet-hosted allows your organization access to a Web-based interface giving you complete control over your organization’s filter configuration and basic usage reporting tools. MOREnet manages and maintains the filtering server hardware and software. Customer-hosted service is located hardware and software that you manage which gives you complete control of the service.
The MOREnet Remote Vulnerability Assessment Service is a study of your organization's publicly visible Internet presence. The assessment, performed over the Internet, looks for signs of vulnerabilities that could pose a risk if not addressed. Essentially, MOREnet's Security staff provides a "hacker's" view of your public network, allowing you to exercise due diligence in planning and to secure it against current threats.
