First, add a subject from the Manage Subjects screen.
Then click on Agenda Builder and create the agenda.
Issue:
Is there a maximum file size for the
agenda file (.saz) that can be uploaded to the Centra server?
Solution:
The agenda file in Centra 7 has no size limit.
Issue:
When I attempt to import an agenda including
an evaluation from the Insert menu while leading a session,
I receive an error message stating: Some Agenda items
were not imported. Evaluations cannot be imported with the Insert Agenda
command.
Solution:
Agendas containing evaluations cannot be imported
during a session from the Insert menu.
Before the event
is scheduled to start, a Content Developer will have to create
an agenda using Agenda Builder, create a new subject and add the
agenda to the subject.
An Event Manager will then have to assign the subject
to the event.
For additional information, see the
Content Developer document available from the Centra Help menu.
Note: If an agenda does not include an
evaluation, the leader may insert the agenda during a session from
the Insert menu.
During the event, select Application Sharing from the Tools menu
and select the application.
Note: The application must be running on your desktop before it
can be shared.
Issue:
When I share an application, my screen
changes. The Tools and Participants window moves to the right.
Solution:
This is normal. Use your mouse to
navigate. Use the microphone icon to speak if the CTRL key stops working.
Issue:
Video goes away when I share an application.
Cause:
This is the default setting and is intentional
in order to conserve bandwidth. Note: Customers may request this setting
be changed to allow video during an application share. However, the
change impacts all events in a domain and cannot be made for individual
events.
Issue:
When leading an event, how do I change
the color depth and refresh rate for an Application Share?
Solution:
The leader may change both color resolution
and refresh rate during a session. To do so, select Appshare Options from
the Tools menu. The color depth can be increased to true
color, while the refresh rate can be adjusted on a scale from 1 to 5; 5
is the fastest while 3 is the default setting. Note: True color and a faster refresh rates
require higher bandwidth. In addition, recordings made under these
conditions may be larger files, causing delay both in buffering from
the server and downloading to the client machine.
Issue:
When I use an application share in Centra,
the audio ceases to function.
Solution:
When using an application share, the
application being shared becomes the primary application. Shortcut keys
in Centra will not function. To continue using audio in Centra during an
application share, click the Lock Microphone button in
Centra, which will allow the leader to continue talking during the application
share.
Issue:
When performing an application share,
if an application such as Outlook Express or WS_FTP LE has a password dialog
box open, those dialog boxes are not shared with participants.
Solution:
As a security feature, the application
windows will be shared but the password windows will not be viewable to
participants.
Audio Issues
Issue:
Nobody can hear me.
Solution:
Try the following:
Hold down the CTRL key when attempting to speak.
Run the Audio Wizard.
Check physical connections.
Check system volume control by double-clicking the speaker icon
in the system tray
Make sure that Line In is not muted
and is turned up.
Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder.
Record your voice and play it back.
Issue:
I am a leader and my participants can't speak.
Solution:
Make sure to unlock your microphone.
Issue:
The Audio Wizard does not open.
Solution:
If you are using a pop-up blocker,
disable it so the Audio Wizard pop-up window can open.
This is
a feature of Centra. Chat is not recorded. Thus, the chat window cannot
be left open to record a session.
Event Issues
Issue:
You are running Windows XP SP2 and are experiencing
one of the following problems.
When attempting to attend a Centra event, you receive a window that
states "The web page you are viewing is trying to close this window.
Would you like to close this window?"
When attempting to attend a Centra event, your Web browser closes
and you are not entered into the event.
When attempting to attend a Centra event, you click Attend and
nothing happens.
When I create an instant eMeeting using the Centra Meeting
Launcher in the system tray, the invitees see the meeting, but I do not.
Solution:
Uninstall and reinstall Centra.
Issue:
As a leader, how do I start an event?
Solution:
On the My Schedule screen, click Lead for the event in question.
Issue:
When attempting to import a PowerPoint
presentation into an event, I receive the error message: File
size must not exceed 10 Mb.
Solution:
PowerPoint presentations inserted
into an event must be smaller than 10 Mb. PowerPoint presentations uploaded
into a Centra agenda file (.saz) using the Agenda Builder utility do not
have a maximum file size limitation.
Issue:
Why does Centra close down the event
I am leading if no participants show up within an hour's duration?
Solution:
Centra does close down an event with no participants if an hour has passed. The leader may reopen the event and continue as the leader. However, if no participants show up after an hour has passed the event will close down again.
Issue:
When I lead an event, the Agenda isn’t displayed. The Agenda was built using Agenda Builder and assigned to the correct subject for the event.
Solution:
Try restarting the workstation and clearing the browser cache. Other options include performing a manual uninstall and reinstall of the Centra client, leading the event from a different workstation and importing the PowerPoint presentation directly into the event.
Issue:
When I try to use the Invite by Email
feature from within the Centra client, nothing happens.
Solution:
This is a known issue and we are working
with Centra on a resolution. At this time, you will have to manually send
an e-mail to the participants with the necessary information (URL and event
ID) on how they can enter the event.
Issue:
I have read that all Centra events should
prompt the leader to send a post-event e-mail after the leader ends the
event. This doesn’t appear to be working.
Solution:
This is a known issue and we are working
with Centra on a resolution.
When I attempt to create a new event and click the
Calendar drop-down menu, nothing happens. The calendar
is supposed to open so I can pick the date on which I wish to schedule
the event.
Solution:
In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet
Options.
On the General tab under Temporary
Internet files, click Settings.
Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, select Every visit to the page.
Click OK twice and refresh your browser.
Issue:
How do I record an event?
Solution:
Before the event, go to Manage Events and
edit the event. Select the Record Event check box. During
an event, you may stop and start recording using the red record icon on
the toolbar.
Issue:
How do I make someone
a co-presenter?
Solution:
The process varies depending on the type of event:
Symposium or eMeeting: Event managers can designate participants
as co-presenter during the enrollment process. During the event, the
leader can right-click on a user and select Promote Participant
to Co-Presenter. There is no limit to the number of co-presenters
in a Symposium or eMeeting.
Conference: Up to 4 participants can be designated as co-presenters during the enrollment process.
Web Seminar: Unlimited co-presenters can be designated during the event setup.
Issue:
As a Centra event manager, I cannot assign Event Manager permissions to an account. I can assign Content Manager, Leader, Web Seminar Presenters, Web Seminar Recorders and Web Seminar Reviewers permissions. However, I do not see the Event Manager group listed.
Solution:
After creating the new user account, contact MOREnet Technical Support to have Event Manager permissions granted to the new user. At this time, local event managers do not have the ability to grant Event Manager permissions.
Issue:
When I attempt to delete an Event Manager account, I
am prompted to send the e-mail confirmation, but the account is not deleted.
Solution:
Please contact MOREnet Technical Support to delete Event
Manager accounts.
Issue:
I have invited a group to an event and would like to make attendance changes to individual users in that group. Is this change possible?
Solution:
Individual participants cannot be removed from the event
if they were enrolled as part of a group. If you anticipate the need to
modify individual users, do not invite them as part of a group.
Issue:
When I attempt to modify an eMeeting I did not create, I can’t find any option to view or modify its enrollment.
Solution:
Only the eMeeting creator can view and modify the enrollment.
Issue:
When I attempt to edit the enrollment for an event and add a user, I don’t see the account on the Add to
Enrollment screen. When I view the list of accounts from Manage Users, the account is displayed.
Solution:
Guest user accounts will be displayed under Manage Users, but guests cannot be enrolled in a scheduled event. You can edit the guest user account and select the option Convert to Registered User. This will allow you to enroll the user into a scheduled event.
Issue:
I have created a password-protected event. However, when a registered participant attempts to attend the event, they are not prompted for the event password.
Solution:
The event password is only required when attempting to self-enroll in an event. There is no way to password-protect events or recordings for registered Centra users who are pre-enrolled in the event.
Ports 80, 443 (HTTPS) and 1709. Note: The Centra client will try to establish a direct connection through port
1709. If port 1709 is not available, the client will try to tunnel through
port 80. The tunneled connection, while letting the participant attend events,
affects his or her participation and experience.
Login Issues
Issue:
I have forgotten my password. How do I find out what it is?
Solution:
Click Forget your password? link on the login
screen. Enter your e-mail address and your password will be e-mailed to
you.
Issue:
User has forgotten his or her login ID.
Solution:
The Event Manager can select Manage
Users and search for variants of the user's name.
Issue:
User cannot log in, even after entering
what he or she believes to be the correct login and password.
Solution:
The Event Manager can select Manage
Users and edit the user's profile. In the Edit Profile for User
screen, enter a new password.
System Check Issues
Issue:
When attempting to complete System Check, I pass
the browser check and then click Continue for the network
check, but nothing happens.
Solution:
Perform a manual uninstall and reinstall of the Centra client following the instructions located on the Client Installation Requirements page. Make sure you have any pop-up blockers disabled.
Issue:
When attempting to complete System Check, I fail
the browser check portion.
Solution:
Internet Explorer
On the
Internet Explorer Tools menu, select:
Internet
Options > Security tab
> Custom Level. Select Enable for
the following options:
Download signed ActiveX controls
Run ActiveX controls and plugins
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
Internet Options > Advanced tab > Microsoft VM
Select the JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled checkbox. This option must be enabled.
Note: The Centra 7 Web address does not have
to be added to Internet Options > Security > Trusted
Sites because
this requirement is set on the Centra 7 Web servers.
Netscape
Please verify the following settings have been enabled in Netscape Preferences.
Smart Update
Java
Verify Native Object Scripting
Note: When
running Centra 7 with Netscape 7.1, Netscape's native pop-up blocker
must be disabled.
Issue:
When attempting to complete System
Check, I pass the browser check and the network check portions. However,
when Centra attempts to launch the Audio Check window, the software freezes.
Solution:
This can be caused by a conflict with a previous version of the Centra client. Uninstall the current Centra client using Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Install the Centra client following the instructions located on the Client Installation Requirements page.
Video Issues
Issue:
Video does not appear to be working. Nobody can see me.
Solution:
Try the following:
Is the session configured to allow video?
Run the Video Wizard.
Check the physical connection of camera.
Is the software loaded for the webcam?
The camera may be incompatible. H.323 cameras are not compatible
with Centra. Creative Labs and Logitech webcams are recommended.
Issue:
I can't see anybody.
Solution:
Is application sharing being used?
If so, note that video is unavailable during application sharing.
Issue:
As a leader, how do I grant video to
a participant?
Solution:
Right-click the participant's name and
grant video.
Issue:
When I record an event that contains
live video, the playback recording does not include the video.
Solution:
By design, any Centra event using
the server-side or client-side recording method will not include the live
video.
