Client Installation Requirements
The Centra client will be installed the first time a user
attempts to run the System Check or participate
in an e-Conferencing event. It is recommended that users uninstall any previous
Centra client before attempting to install the Centra client. For the client
to be installed successfully, the following requirements are necessary.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP
The Centra client must be installed by a Power User or Administrator
of the local workstation. During the installation of the Centra client, the
setup program creates an entry into the registry of the local workstation.
Only Power Users and Administrators of Windows 2000 and Windows XP workstations
have the necessary permissions to allow registry entries. In addition, in a
network environment, restrictions can be in place to prevent the installation
of any software. Please contact your local technical personnel, network administrator
or Event Manager for assistance with the installation. Once the software is
successfully installed, the Centra client should be available to any user
of the workstation regardless of his or her permission level.
Additional Windows XP Requirements
Since the installation of Windows XP does not include Java,
the Centra client will install Java if necessary. We highly recommend that
Windows XP users perform a manual installation of
the Centra client before completing the System Check or participating in any
Centra events.
Windows XP SP2 has changed the way ActiveX controls are handled
in Internet Explorer. If you are running Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer,
please see Installing the Centra Client for
Windows XP SP2 for additional
configuration steps.
Manual Installation Instructions
If you choose to install the Centra client manually, follow the instructions below. For questions related to this installation, please contact your local Centra Event Manager or technical personnel.
- Exit all applications and verify you are logged in to the system with the
correct permissions.
- Download the Centra installation program to your workstation from http://econ.more.net/SiteRoots/main/Install/win32/Setup.exe.
- When prompted by your browser, download/save the install file to your desktop.
- Locate and double-click the Setup.exe file on your desktop
to install Centra 7.
- Accept all defaults during the installation of the client.
- After the installation is complete, delete the Setup.exe installation
file you saved on your desktop and restart your workstation.
System Check
For an optimal e-Conferencing experience, equipment setup should be completed at least one business day in advance and a System Check completed at least four hours before your session.
System Check does not require a login.
Running System Check lets you optimize your computer for participating in a Centra event. The System Check wizard will ask a series of questions and return information about your computer system and network connection.
In addition to System Check, at the beginning of each Centra experience, all users are prompted to perform an audio check to verify their system's compatibility with Centra.
MOREnet e-Conferencing users should seek system setup technical assistance from their local technical personnel or Event Manager.
