Novell periodically releases Support Packs and individual patch files to correct bugs or defects in its operating systems and applications. Support Packs or individual patch files can be downloaded from the Novell Support website at: http://support.novell.com/produpdate/patchlist.html
Novell provides the Support Pack file in a self-extracting executable
file (for example, nw51sp5.exe). To add the current version, follow these
steps:
Download the appropriate Support Pack for your operating system. Note: The executable file must be copied to the root directory of the appropriate volume or drive. You must copy it to a drive mapped to the network server if you are using Windows 95/98/NT/Me desktop operating systems. You must not extract it from a non-mapped drive such as from the Network Neighborhood directory path because the self-extracting file (a DOS file) does not recognize Universal Naming Convention path (UNC path).
After extraction, a directory will be created (with the same name as the Support Pack filename), into which all support
pack files and subdirectories are copied.
Apply NetWare Support Pack
At the console prompt, type unload JAVA.NLM.
At the console prompt, type NWCONFIG and press ENTER to load the NetWare Configuration menu.
At the Configuration Options menu, select Product Options.
Select Install a product not listed.
Press F3 to specify a directory path for the Support Pack.
Type in the volume and directory of the Support Pack directory in the following format:
volume-name:directory-name: For example: sys:nw51sp5
Depending on the Support Pack program, a menu of options for groups of files to install or back up may appear or a README file may appear. Select the desired choice and press F10 to continue the patch task.
Finally, reboot the server by using the command RESTART SERVER at the console prompt.
