The Smithsonian Institution has released 2.8 million high-resolution images to the public domain, giving educators and students an impressive new resource. The new open access resources are being made available as part of the Smithsonian's push to digitize its 155 million-item collection. All the images are licensed under the Creative Commons license and can be used without any attribution or fee. Expect more releases from the Smithsonian over the rest of 2020 as they plan to put around 200,000 more in the public domain.

Anything on a Smithsonian website that's marked CC0 or displays this image (CC0 image) is available for use. You can learn more about the open access materials and search the available resources at https://www.si.edu/openaccess. There you'll find resources for students, teachers and researchers as well as frequently asked questions, ideas for ways to use the materials and more.
