Update Your EBSCO and LearningExpress Links by July 19

  • Published: Tuesday, June 15, 2021

Update your EBSCO and LearningExpress links by July 19 to continue to receive access to these databases.

To increase cybersecurity, EBSCO has notified us that beginning on July 19, 2021, EBSCO will upgrade their interfaces and services to use HTTPS (version TLS 1.0 - 1.2). Available as an optional upgrade for years, HTTPS ensures that data is encrypted between the user's browser and the servers for search terms sent to EBSCO, as well as search results retrieved for use and links out, where supported.

What does this mean for you?

Currently our members access all the EBSCO and LearningExpress databases through a number of URLs that could begin with http:// OR https://. The "s" in https:// provides a higher level of security.

As of July 19, 2021, any URL that begins with http:// will no longer work. Only URLs that begin with https:// will function.

Please update all URLs on your websites, library systems and learning management systems by adding the "s" after http by July 19. You can also change your HeritageQuest URL to https:// to increase your cybersecurity, even though it will still continue to function after July 19.
