Exciting News Regarding LearningExpress Library for Full and Basic MOREnet Members

We are happy to announce that the Missouri State Library will continue its funding for job and career resources that will be available to all MOREnet Full and Basic Service members in FY14.
MOREnet Announces HeritageQuest as Additional Online Resource Included with Membership Service Packages

Secretary of State Jason Kander and the Missouri State Library are pleased to announce the addition of HeritageQuest to the collection of online resources available to Full Service and Basic Service MOREnet members. HeritageQuest is being provided as of July 1, 2013 by REAL Program appropriation funds administered by the Missouri State Library. Over the next few months ProQuest will be working to align contracts or provide credits to libraries in Missouri that currently purchase HeritageQuest.
NewsBank Annoucement Concerning FY14 Subscription

In the current fiscal climate the Missouri State Library has taken a close look at the online resource services offered to MOREnet members. The Kansas City Star and St. Louis Post-Dispatch have low overall usage across the state, relative to the high cost of the resources. Because of this, the decision has been made to not renew the statewide NewsBank contract after the current expiration on July 31, 2013.
MOREnet and the Missouri State Library realize that this decision may present difficulties for those organizations that do use this service. MOREnet is discussing with NewsBank the possibility of offering the database as an optional fee-based service to interested MOREnet members. As soon as additional information is available about this potential service it will be posted to the online resources list at online resources@more.net.*
The EBSCO, Gale, NewsBank and LearningExpress resources are available to MOREnet Members at the Full Service or Basic Service membership level.
MOREnet member access to the online resource databases funded by the Missouri State Library and DESE is provided for the use and benefit of Missouri citizens in support of the missions of Missouri-based educational and public sector institutions. For any member organization that is not based in Missouri, access will be limited to the organization's Missouri location(s). MOREnet reserves the right to audit access for compliance purposes.

For Fee Online Resource Opportunities
MOREnet has negotiated with Gale to offer consortium pricing for ChiltonLibrary and LegalForms and EBSCO for consortium pricing on the Auto Repair Reference Center. These new databases are not part of the state funded online resources available to all MOREnet members.

Search.more.net is an easy to use interface that provides access to all the Online Resources available to MOREnet Members. It is maintained by MOREnet so any content or URL changes are quickly updated and made available. Feel free to link to search.more.net from your website, as an icon on desktops or any other way you can think of. Access from home is not available through the search.more.net interface. We encourage access from outside your organization for your authorized users like staff, students, faculty or patrons so please contact MOREnet Technical Support for assistance on setting up remote access on your website.

HeritageQuest® Online is a comprehensive database of American genealogical sources—rich in unique primary sources, local and family histories, and finding aids. It delivers an essential collection of genealogical and historical sources—with coverage dating back to the 1700s.
LearningExpress, LLC
LearningExpress provides LearningExpress Library and The Job & Career Accelerator and is funded for a two-year, statewide subscription available through Sept. 30, 2013.

NewsBank provides the full text of news features, special interest stories, editorials, daily columns, letters to the editor, sports reports, death notices, obituaries and more from Missouri publications Kansas City Star and St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Annenberg Media
Annenberg Media provides access to professional development materials for educators. The resources are free, and include video-on-demand, live streaming video events, and other materials available for purchase. The site also provides access to the Annenberg Channel, a free satellite channel for schools, libraries, colleges, universities, and other public access channels.
NetSmartz Workshop
The NetSmartz Workshop® is an interactive, educational safety resource from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® and Boys & Girls Clubs of America for children (ages 5-17), parents, guardians, educators and law enforcement that uses age-appropriate, 3-D activities to teach children how to stay safer on the Internet. The NetSmartz Workshop can be accessed at http://www.NetSmartz.org.
