Associate Director of IT

This position manages the state-wide Missouri Research and Education network (MOREnet). The position also represents MOREnet at the state, regional, and national levels including MOREnet members throughout Missouri.

Develop operational processes and procedures for staff to follow. Monitor network utilization to identify trends and network performance issues. Coordinate trouble shooting efforts within and across functional groups for quick resolution. Develop requests for proposals, evaluate responses, and make award recommendations for equipment and network connectivity. Work with vendors to ensure vendor performance and escalate issues timely, both internally and externally.

Review overall network architecture and support strategies. Recommend policies and practices that provide sustainable, scalable solutions and valuable services to MOREnet members. Research and recommend solutions such as but not limited to large-scale, carrier-class networks, LAN/WANs, network management, etc.

Provide strong leadership and manage a staff of 12 people responsible for 24×7 network operations. Determine appropriate staffing resources required to deliver services. Provide timely feedback and effective coaching to maximize individual and group performance. Perform staff evaluations and make salary recommendations to upper management. Coordinate and/or develop training plans for staff to ensure staff have the necessary skillset to do the job.

Monitor customer service activities to maintain high customer satisfaction. Ensure staff provide timely solutions to member problems and requests for service. Utilize best practices to anticipate and mitigate future problems members may encounter.

Develop and monitor the Network Services budget. Perform on-going capacity planning studies to determine bandwidth needs to meet the short term and long term demands of MOREnet members. Perform financial analyses and make purchase recommendations.
