The Missouri Research and Education Network (MOREnet) is committed to providing reliable, high-quality data networks as well as our exceptional human network, to support and advance research activity across the state of Missouri and beyond.
The Network
We partner with Great Plains Network, Internet2, peer networks and peer institutions to enable multi-institutional research collaboration, bridge gaps, and break down barriers of sharing findings.
Prior to MOREnet, researchers physically moved a hard drive from point A to point B. Today, we operate a high-capacity network designed to meet the unique requirements of researchers. High-speed, low-latency networks like ours play a pivotal role in research, giving instant access to large datasets and massive compute facilities, access to real-time data and process streams, visualization, collaboration and remote access to instruments.
Our 100-Gbps-capacity network gives our members access to Internet2 and can support mass observations from 800 connected sites in the MOREnet community; including K-12 human observers and library patrons, as well as sensor packages.
Our network engineers are also able to assist when problems arise. We use perfSONAR to troubleshoot data throughput issues when researchers encounter a problem sharing large datasets through the network.
Grants
Digital Equity Grant
We are excited to be working on a grant through the Missouri Department of Economic Development, funded by the 2021 Digital Equity Act, part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Through the grant we will leverage programming we recently rolled out for member of our consortium to extend the research into local communities.

NSF Grant: Computational Infusion for Undergraduate Science and Engineering (CIMUSE)
A MOREnet-led initiative has been awarded an extension to a National Science Foundation (NSF) CC* Area 5 planning grant to develop the next proposal. Information on CC* Program can be found on the NSF website. After the development of the first grant, there were still funds remaining in the planning grant, so we are again pulling together interested parties to explore additional opportunities for synergy.
