Hands On! 3D Design and Printing (CS)
3D printing is being used across the curriculum to support learning. Typically, students are not allowed to interact with fragile objects like fossils and artifacts. 3D printing allows students to touch, hold and even take-home models. Students can design and print objects from their discussions and reading, as well as use 3D design to support research. This hands-on session uses Tinkercad, a free, online, platform-independent tool to teach the basics of 3D design. We will then explore 3D print setup for slicing and then discuss common issues and troubleshooting techniques.
