Eduroam is a secure, global roaming wireless access service that enables wi-fi for students, educators, staff and researchers. Designed for the research and education community, the solution is based on the use of RADIUS network access servers, typically at each participating site. Imagine students traveling for MSHSAA activities, attending classes at other schools or libraries, participating in dual-credit programs with eduroam-participating higher education institutions, educators visiting for collaboration, etc. Now, imagine them having the streamlined ability to immediately connect to the local wireless network when at a participating site by simply using their home institution credentials. We are excited to bring eduroam to our K-12 and library members through this initiative. We’ll be starting our pilot this month with up to five members, including K-12 schools and libraries, and hope to roll out to all interested K-12 and library members beginning as soon as January.
