When we teach the art and science of 3D printing, our favorite “go to” tool for beginner design is Tinkercad. This stable, easy to start with design tool has been around for a while but they just added a new tool! This is a much needed update called the Pen Tool and it allows for the creation of more free form or organic shapes. It works much the same as similar Pen Tools in programs like Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator. If you have 3D printers at your school or library, give Tinkercad another look and check out this tool! We also have an in person training session on May 16 from 9-3 that will explore Tinkercad hands on.
