De-duplication is the process of condensing repeated files to one file. For example, an email thread that is replied to multiple times will often include the same email multiple times. The de-duplication process saves one copy of each unique email.
Compression is simply a technical process that reduces the size of the files to save on storage space by reducing the number of bits of the original file.
Why should I back up my data?
Think of backups as an insurance plan in the case of an emergency. A well-designed backup and recovery plan gives you the peace of mind and saves time during the recovery process. Important files can accidently be deleted, mission-critical data can become corrupt, and computers can become lost or stolen, a backup system will quickly get you back online to resume business.
