When University of Missouri-Columbia business student Grant Pierce landed a summer student internship in Frankfurt, Germany, he knew he couldn’t pass up the opportunity of a lifetime. Living in Germany offered the perfect chance to put his years of language study to use, sharpen his skills, gain quality work experience and travel throughout Europe on the weekends.
Alongside his daily internship duties, Grant tackles remote university coursework to stay on track for his spring 2027 graduation. To ensure he has a reliable fail-safe option to access his classes, Grant connected his devices to eduroam before leaving the Columbia campus in May.
“I wanted to give myself every opportunity to stay safely connected to the University and my professors while overseas,” Grant said.
Though Grant has only lived in Europe for a few months, his weekend travels have already taken him to several countries. He appreciates escaping the hassle of chasing down new Wi-Fi passwords and logins.
“If I need Internet while in a city, I know I can always find a secure connection close by,” Grant shared. “I actually just checked my upcoming travel and discovered Paris alone has over 250 eduroam hotspots, which it completely eliminates any stress about finding a place to work during my trip!”
