In 2022, MOREnet collaborated with Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to develop an actionable list of controls to include in school districts’ cybersecurity and data privacy plans. MOREnet updated this list again this past fall and coordniated with DESE, to account for the changing threat landscape. The Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) 6 included the expectation that schools implement a cybersecurity and data privacy plan. Ten steps to take for this plan are included on the MOREnet MSIP 6 Standards web page.
The new list of security controls include additional protections such as log monitoring and vulnerability management as well as updates to previously recommended controls.
