Artificial Intelligence has been making headlines with the emergence of ChatGPT, a conversational chatbot created by OpenAI. This model was trained to use reinforcement learning from human feedback. It can answer questions, challenge and reject requests. ChatGPT has been making waves due to it’s scary knowledge and abilities. This use of AI clearly defines the capabilities and power of its use.

AI can be implemented to assist an organization’s cyberecurity defenses in observation, detection, reporting and incident response of cyber threats. Prolonged detection and response time to contain threats cost money in terms of losses.

Traditional techniques work to identify known threats. AI is built by using learning platforms and algorithms. Through various learning methods, AI can proactively identify active or potential threats and vulnerabilities and quickly isolate or eliminate while protecting assets.

AI can get smarter over time as it combines large amounts of data with iterative processing and the intelligence in algorithms that allow it to learn from these patterns. It can detect anomalies and proactively stop attacks in real time.
AI can assist with detecting malware and viruses. It can provide password protections and authentication of the user. It will filter spam and detect phishing. It uses predictive patterns to identify botnets and risks, including breach of data.

Automation that includes AI and machine learning strategies is expensive to implement. This will change over time as more organizations adopt these processes and more diversity in products is offered to decrease costs.
AI relies on huge data sets to learn from. This may not be feasible for the small business.
And remember, attackers will also be utilizing AI to produce more sophisticated and severe attacks.

Artificial Intelligence is still developing and is in no way perfect. But combining typical technical defenses with the predictive intelligence of AI can strengthen an organization’s overall cybersecurity posture.
