Security is Cumulative

Security is cumulative. The threat landscape is always changing. As technology evolves there are new attacks in which we must defend against. But that does not mean that we should let down our defenses on old and existing threats. The challenge in cybersecurity is to defend against existing enemies while anticipating new ones.

Our defenses not only guard against attacks but also breaches, malware and compromises that might include phishing campaigns. The landscape of cyber crime is very broad. We must protect our devices, network, infrastructure, data, insider threats and users. There is no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ solution. Security must be ongoing and performed in layers.

This is an excellent article that addresses why threat cumulativity is a term and why security should follow suit.
